Always on Time
“I'm not always there when you call, But I'm always on time And I gave you my all, Now baby be mine” I probably heard this chorus more so than any song growing up and frankly it is a verse that has resonated with me this past month. Funny enough these verses don’t resonate with me in the form of a romantic relationship but more so in my walk with God.
For this past month I have been asking God to open the doors for a new place to live since I have a moving out day of March 1st. When I began my hunt of looking for a place I came across this luxurious apartment that I fell in love with and I was sold on it when I took a tour. However, being smart with my budget, savings and investments I asked one of closest friends if he wanted to move out and to my surprised he said yes! However my friend had a lot going on in his life a week later and he no longer wanted to move out. I was crushed because this place felt like a dream come true and I was no longer a viable option. Surprisingly a week later another close friend calls me saying she was open to move out since one of her friends was moving out from her home. We went to check out this house and neighborhood and it seemed like the perfect fit. This time around I got to filling out the application and paperwork just to find out the current tenant had to complete her lease till the summer and was not able to transfer it to us.
At this point I was running out of option but luckily for me I have made some good connections throughout the years and saw one of my old co workers post that he was renting a room beginning March 1st. I reached out to him to inquire and luckily for me it worked out in both ends for us. I shared this long story to explain that when you try to do better there is always obstacles in the way. This was also reminder to me that God is not always there to answer my prayers right away but in his divine timing. His ways may also not look like my ways. God may not always give you what you want but I’m a firm believer that he gives you what you need. Proverbs 3:5 says ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Other verses that I have meditated on that have helped me overcome obstacles this month is Isaiah 60:22 “The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.” This verse as well as the proverbs verse is a reminder to stay humble. As bad as I wanted to live in a luxurious apartment or a nice house I know it’s not God’s time yet. But this verse in Isaiah says when it’s time God can do things swiftly. I am excited to move in to this new city because I know it’s part of God’s plan and his bigger picture. As God says in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Knowing his word and speaking it over my life I am really excited for what’s to come.
If you are currently going through any obstacles I hope you can declare these verses over you life as well. Even though we may sometimes feel God isn’t always there when we call out to him he is a faithful God and will always show up in his divine Timing!
